Gimme a Switch

Krampus is a recently popular trend in North America. After all the idea of a Christmas demon/monster being a legit part of Santa folklore is bizarre to learn about for a westerner. My problem is people tend to overrexaggerate Krampus' evulness and role. Germanic/Scandinavian mythology and stories for children could just be really dark or harsh. Krampus had no taste for human flesh or even killed people back in the day. He whipped children and carried you off if you were especially naughty (which I think is scarier than ever knowing for sure what the guy does to you. What does he need with you? He's like the original Other Mother). He was a cautionary character but an outright villain he was not.

I digress. This is my updated Tupilaq-inspired Krampus design from a while back. I felt he looked better with fur but also thought he looked good with the white underbelly.
This Krampus has changed as I've sort of maybe not really began to develope a story around him. Bitter about being let go over the years and tired of being feared by Christmas elves, Krampus abandons the holiday and Santa to try and make his own holiday...with little success. Krampus acts tough but is really very lonely and confused about his existence. I refer to my characterization of him as Edgelord Jack Skellington, but hopefully you'll see what I mean when and if I go through with this story later on...
